Sad news

Sadly, it's official. Terriers has been cancelled after one season of creative brilliance but terrible ratings.

Naturally, I'm upset we won't get more of this phenomenal series, but I'm thrilled that we got to experience this season, and I honestly can't imagine a more perfect ending than the one we got. I'm looking forward to more fans discovering this little gem on DVD and through word-of-mouth, and I know I'll see love for Terriers pop up over and over in the coming years in the most unexpected places (I certainly know what will be taking one of my Yuletide nomination slots for the foreseeable future).

Please keep using this comm for discussion, fic and graphics, and to introduce new fans to Hank, Britt, Katie, Gretchen, Mark, and all the other characters we came to love in such a short time.

Make sure to give some love to the cast and crew today and let them know how much we appreciate their work. And to help ease the pain, one week from Wednesday (at 10PM ET and PT) Shawn Ryan (@ShawnRyanTV) will hold a Twitter wake and answer all our Terriers questions - so come up with some good ones!

I feel your pain! I had really hoped that FX would overlook the poor ratings and give it a chance to find an audience on DVD (particularly since FX is known for taking risks and supporting excellence even at the expense of potentially higher ratings) but apparently they felt that the average FX viewer just didn't appreciate the show. They didn't think the ratings would improve with better marketing or more visibility. Personally I think that's bullshit, but it's their business - I do give them credit for airing all 13 eps, and they'd better put together a nice DVD set!
